![]() What you will find is that most hosting control panels will do DNS and email for a particular domain. I tried it for a while with a web hosting company and it was horrible. Unfortunately Plesk is one of the most unintuitive web hosting panels out there. (Taking them down with Web Platform Installer is not really possible - but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it). Me and Web Platform Installer will have 5 sites up in just a couple of hours. Sadly, now I am re-imaging the server for a plain 2012 Windows server. I find it hard to believe that a company as successful as Plesk does not have a single published book (like a Plesk for Dummies or Visually Plesk). While I think that Plesk works well for Hosting Providers, it seems to be so massive, and contain so many options and switches, that a new user like myself sees learning and using all of that as more convoluted and time consuming that just using Microsoft's Web Platform Installer and doing things manually. How can I just get users added and working WordPress sites up quickly? ![]() How do I simply set up a client with a WordPress site? Do I have to set up subscriptions or design Plesk packages or just set up a user?ĭo I have to set up DNS (I had let GoDaddy handle that)? Do I have to offer mail to clients (they already have a mail client, and I just wanted to offer WordPress hosting and design)? It's just that there is NO documentation that starts from the place of a complete newb to Plesk 12.įor previous users of Plesk, I am sure that the documentation on the web is quite adequate, but for me (someone who has never seen Plesk until now) it is a maze of confusion. Plesk looks like it has a TON of great features. Doing that takes a special kind of person - one that can put aside his/her knowledge of a subject and look at it as if he/she was looking at it for the first time. It's common for people to write at THEIR level of understanding and can even be quite difficult to write on the level of a rank beginner. Like most companies (and talented IT people) they really suck at writing documentation for people who are beginners at their stuff. So I get a re-imaged sever at 1and1 hosting and elect to go with 2012 plus Plesk in hopes of simplifying some tasks associated with running WordPress sites.
